Notes: Check dojo postings and telephone message for dojo closings and current information. Please try to be at your class 15 minutes before it begins.

 If the temperature will be 30 degrees or higher,

class will be cancelled.

Beginner a first term student who has no significant prior experience with Tsuruoka or Shotokan karate

Novice is a karate ka that has a yellow, orange, or a white belt that has attended one or two sessions prior to the current session.

Intermediate is a karate ka that has a green, blue, or brown belt.

Advanced this can either mean that the class is for advanced belts – brown and up or it can mean the techniques at the class scheduled are for students who are advanced for their belt level and the techniques practiced will normally be at the advanced level.

Basics Class This is a class, which is open to all belt levels but which practices only novice and intermediate techniques.

Kumite Practice Class This is a class, which is open to intermediate and up belt levels. Lower KYU can attend with permission from two of their instructors. Kumite techniques are practiced.
